NH STRATHAM — Stratham cemetery boards chart cy pres petition path. The Cemetery and Trustee of the Trust Funds boards outlined a process to transfer a portion of the Cemetery Perpetual Care fund to the Cemetery Expendable Maintenance Trust Fund, pending court approval under the cy pres mechanism, which would allow broader cemetery maintenance use of restricted funds. Cemetery Trustee Chair June Sawyer and Trustee of the Trust Funds Chair Mikki Deschaine explained that perpetual care fund restrictions have prevented the town from using a substantial earned income balance for cemetery-wide projects like tree removal, now funded from the general fund.

The boards agreed to gather historical and projected cost data before engaging Town Counsel to draft the petition.
